In Support of Females
And why it mattered in the 2024 presidential and congressional elections
Several important issues adversely affecting girls and women are being ignored this election cycle. One is the presence of trans women (born male) in female sports and female prisons.
Preserve girls’ and women’s sports for those born female
Athletes born male have superior physical attributes like bone and muscle mass, cardiovascular capacity, and aggressiveness that are already taking roster spots and playing time away from those born female in violation of Title IX and in violation of basic fairness and opportunity. Trans women aren’t being denied participation, rather they’re free to compete with others born male in the Men’s (Open) division or coed division.
If Title IX is changed as Kamala Harris is trying to do, the number of trans women in female sports will increase dramatically because many humans born male are inclined to “game the system” to their advantage especially as it becomes more accepted to switch teams in more ways than one. Case in point is the large increase in the number of male prisoners in California declaring they're trans so they can be moved into female prisons (what could possibly go wrong?). This United Nations report found that nearly 900 medals have already been won by trans opponents that were deserved by female athletes and there will be more next year unless the trend is arrested. Shouldn’t it be common sense to support fairness and opportunities for females in sports.
Testosterone and other hormone therapy does not undo the genetic advantages of being born male. Trans women have every opportunity to compete in the appropriate division.
Let prepubescent kids discover what gender they are naturally
Another issue that affects not only girls but boys in elementary school is the gender ideology being taught leading many kids to believe they might be a different gender than they were born. This is being done before they're given a chance to grow through puberty and let the natural changes in hormone and other biochemical levels preprogrammed by genetics firm up their feelings. After adolescence, some will turn out to be trans, which is fine, yet minors are being confused and some are making tragic decisions before they're near old enough to understand the consequences or even understand how their feelings will in most cases evolve.
The tragic case of Clementine is one of many that remind us to emphasise counseling over drugs or surgery for minors, and to involve parents rather than bypass the parent-child relationship. Recent studies have highlighted the dangers of premature treatment with pharmaceuticals and surgery.
One of the more comprehensive studies of gender transition has been conducted by Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, and publication of her results was delayed because it didn’t give the results she wanted (she claims the result would be weaponised by those who want to rely on counseling rather than puberty blockers for youngsters). Leave it to J.K. Rowling to succinctly summarise this outrageous self-censorship
The moms I know (and most dads too) have experience with kids who grow through many phases where they might want to be a cat or pirate or even the opposite sex. Prompting and reinforcement in schools resulting in some kids following through to transition gets them more attention (which kids crave) yet is a dangerous thing when in most cases it’s just a phase kids grow out of.
Let kids be kids!
Trust states to democratically and humanely regulate abortion
Abortion is a controversial issue and obviously important to many, yet it's strange the same people who decry “dangers to democracy” won't accept that states are democratically deciding what limits should be placed on abortion. They only support democracy when the majority agrees with them. Abortion is often cast as a binary “yea or nea” issue. Rightly or wrongly, most Americans support choice in the first trimester (and even up to 15-20 weeks in most states and for exceptions like rape and incest). Yet in the last trimester for cases where both mother and baby are physically healthy, the majority of Americans see that as murder (as they do in most other countries around the world) because a second person is clearly involved. The challenge for each state is to decide at what point does the fetus become a viable baby, and that murky judgement was delegated to the states by the Supreme Court to be regionally and democratically decided by the people rather than a small group of judges not medically trained. Trump has promised he wouldn't sign a national abortion ban since SCOTUS has ruled on the issue so it’s now settled legally. In most states (like Michigan) abortion is now more available and more prevalent than before the Dobbs decision overturned Roe vs Wade. The legal foundation of Roe was flawed and legal scholars across the spectrum agreed it was going to be overturned sooner or later with a long line of cases in various states waiting to be heard. This analysis shows why women now after Roe was overturned have more democratic power than they did before.
Despite another widespread lie, Trump also supports In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and has been active in preserving access to it. #SaveDemocracy
Bring back economic health (stop future inflationary damage)
The high cost of living due to over 20% inflation since Harris became VP is also an issue especially for middle and lower class households, many run by women. While a number of factors contribute to inflation the two most significant are excessive government spending (e.g. COVID relief bills Harris cast the tie-breaking vote for that included FAR MORE than just COVID relief, notably green new deal spending and DEI programs having nothing to do with COVID) and higher energy costs (caused by an administration that repeatedly promised to "end fossil fuels" to avert "climate catastrophe" and restricted the needed growth in energy supply, driving up costs). Here's an actual expert on economics on inflation (Nobel laureate Milton Friedman).
The impact of the 12-month inflation rates shown below is cumulative so while it’s good the more recent 12-month increase is finally lower than earlier in the Biden/Harris presidency, it’s still higher than throughout Trump’s presidency. AND the cumulative result of inflation over the last 42 months is prices over 20% higher than before, which is like a tax increase on everyone especially those in the lower and middle income brackets who are working hardest to make ends meet. Are you better off than you were four years ago?
Unemployment is also important to female voters and the disappointing September jobs report wasn’t inspring about staying the course with Harris governance.
Control our borders to reduce excessive migrant (and Fentanyl) influx
The relatively open southern border is a humanitarian crisis in many aspects besides just excessive Fentanyl deaths and overloading our social support systems including schools and heath care. Especially tragic is the increased prevalence of human sex trafficking of migrant girls and women. Hopefully empathy and common sense will bring more attention to reducing this problem.
